Prayer for Forgiveness (سيد الإستغفار)

I would like to start this blog by pondering over one Hadith which says:

سيد الإستغفار أن تقول : (( اللهم أنت ربي لا إله إلا أنت، خلقتني و أنا عبدك و أنا على عهدك و وعدك ما استطعت، أعوذ بك من شر ما صنعت، أبوء لك بنعمتك على و أبوء بذنبي، فاغفرلي فإنه لا يغفر الذنوب إلا أنت )).

"O Allah, You are truly my Lord (my God), there is no other one to be adored except You. You created me, so I am your servant; I will live according to Your pledge to me as much as I can, and I believe in Your promise too. I seek refuge in You from any bad thing I did; I recognise all your bounties for me, and I recognise whatever sin I may have done, so grant me Your pardon, as there is no other one that can give me pardon except You".

Let us think about that STATEMENT we are ordered to say several times everyday, by

Prophet Muhammad (God’s blessings over him).

First: We have to always be conscious about WHO ARE WE and understand WHAT IS

OUR POSITION on this Earth as long as we are alive on it.

We are a creation of God, He is our Lord and Sustainer. Our life should be according to His Regulation.

Second: We have to recognise that we are not infallible, we can fall into mistakes and 

sins. That’s why we have to be constant in performing Salat, prayer (five times a day) to 

make it possible for us to stay on the RIGHT PATH (we say several times “ihdina

assirat-al-mustaqeem”).

Third: This du’a which used to be said by the Great Prophet and recommended by him

for his followers, is really excellent to reflect on all that is important for us to be mindful of.
